Blending Analogue Photographic Chemistry and Digital Technology to explore the human form through transmutation. In this project, the naked human body becomes the canvas for a transformative process into a new visual expression, which goes far beyond the beauty and sensuality of the figure which originated the visuals in the first place. The explicit view disappears, and the transmutation process occurs by using combined analogue (darkroom) and digital techniques. The Chemo-Digital Prints, developed through a long period of time and experimentation with photographic chemistry in the darkroom, followed by some digital post-production and finishing, constitutes the basis of this -still ongoing- project, all the more so after finding Salvador Dali’s amazing exhibition “Alchemy of the Philosophers” which rekindled my interest in the symbolic, spiritual and ritualistic meaning of the Transmutation Processes, and how it affects visual perception, and promises to accompany me for many many years, probably till the end my life in this planet. Some of these images have been published and different books and gallery shows. Medium and Large Format Prints of this series are already being collected IRL and a few are available as Phygital NFTs on the Foundation Marketplace.
